Our Team

Dr. Carly Youton, Chiropractor

Dr. Carly Youlton graduated Cum Laude from Logan College of Chiropractic, in Chesterfield, Missouri. She is a recipient of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities recognition and holds an Honours degree in Human Biology.

Trained in multiple adjusting techniques, Dr. Youlton can accommodate patients of all ages, sizes, and conditions. Using Active Release Technique, myofascial release, nerve flossing, and other soft tissue therapies allows Dr. Youlton to effectively treat the muscles and connective tissues associated with joint pain and dysfunction.

Work stress and physical activities are the most common reasons one seeks a chiropractor.  Carly makes it no secret that she has experienced much of the same conditions her patients seek treatment for, and this makes her an excellent doctor.  As a former member of Canada's National Track and Field team, Carly can relate well to stress and pain, and connects well with her patients as a result.  Because of this exposure to high level athletics and her thorough understanding of injury alleviation and prevention, Dr. Youlton has a passion for caring for those dealing with stress, pain, or discomfort of any level.

Amanda Kihn, Relaxation Massage Intern

Amanda Kihn is a self-proclaimed “Jack of all Trades” with an extensive educational background: She has formally studied massage therapy (2017-2018), early childhood education (2014-2016), and Chemistry (BSc @ UNB 2005).

Her previous experience in physical chemistry research at the University of Victoria prepared her to be a critical thinker and problem solver. In addition, she gained considerable leadership experience serving in the Royal Canadian Navy for almost nine years; she attained her bridge watchkeeper’s certificate, naval officer professional qualification, and completed her director level course ashore while pregnant with her first of two children. Amanda also has an Operational Service Medal.

As a mother of two and a birth doula, Amanda adores caring for and connecting with other mothers and their children. She has a natural talent with children and experience with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

During her studies at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, she completed a research project on using massage as complementary medicine for anorexia nervosa in complex post-traumatic stress disorder. She is also keen to meet and treat other veterans, currently serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and their families.

Donna Kolabinski, Massage Therapist

Donna Kolabinski graduated with honours from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 1995, and has been actively practicing as a registered massage therapist ever since.

Donna’s own journey through difficult health challenges, led her to discover yoga, mediation, and deep connection to the earth as paths to healing and re-balancing.

In working with clients Donna brings a uniquely holistic approach to her work, working in different modalities and on multiple levels depending on each person’s specific needs, whether it is working with injury, rotator cuff stress, or deeper work.

Donna supports each client’s journey to health and healing by creating a sacred space for whatever needs to show up, and facilitates that journey on the table, as well as offering simple stretches or guidance for self-care off the table. Donna is a life long learner, and a lover of nature and outdoor sports.  She is an avid hiker and most recently has discovered a new passion for caving.  Also a mother and grandmother, Donna deeply values her connection to family and tribe, and believes children are our teachers and hold the key to the future.

Will my private insurance cover my treatments?

Answer: Probably!
Chiropractic and Registered Massage care are most often covered by your private insurance company. Your BC medical card does not usually treatments, but some individuals may have a small subsidy.  Refined Health offers direct billing services, and this may include your insurance company!  In this case, our clinic can do majority of the work for you, and reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for you.  Chiropractic and Massage care may also be included in your ICBC claim, or by WorkSafeBC.

How do I know manual therapy will work for me?

Answer: Varies by person!
Many people who have never tried Chiropractic or Massage Therapy have questions about whether these treatments are good options for them.  The majority of people who see a Chiropractor or Massage Therapist will experience positive results.  Unfortunately, there are also many people who have had a negative experience with their previous specialists, which dissuades them from trying therapy again.  "There is the right practitioner out there for you", says Dr. Carly, "and hopefully you find that Refined Health has the right one for you."

How long do I have to see a Chiropractor or Therapist?

Answer: Varies by person!
Like all health care, your treatments and the time it takes your body to recover or respond is impossible to determine right away.  Some people experience positive results immediately, and may not need another treatment for quite some time.  Others will respond more slowly to treatment, because their bodies need more time to reach health.  Many people who use Chiropractic or Massage as methods to stay healthy find that they want to continue using it, but the frequency is not pre-determined nor is there a rule for how often you should visit your provider.
